Trailer Tuesday: Inside Out

Inside Out posterWelcome to “Trailer Tuesday” where I talk about trailers for upcoming movies.

How long will Pixar be able to get us excited by merely referencing their past triumphs?  There may not actually be any limit on that timeframe, considering they have movies like Toy StoryRatouilleWALL-EUpThe IncrediblesMonsters, Inc.Finding Nemo, all of which are permanently etched in the public’s consciousness.  For their newest film, Inside Out, they use the familiar tactic (also used in their first trailer for WALL-E) of reminding us why they’re so awesome, and of course it works.  But I’m more interested in the small taste we actually get of Inside Out at the end of the trailer.  Take a look at it below, and read on for my thoughts:

Trailer Thursday: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1

Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen

Welcome to “Trailer Tuesday” where I talk about trailers for upcoming movies.

I’ve actually got two new trailers for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 for you today.  First up is a followup to the previous teaser, which showed President Snow giving an address to Panem with Peeta surprisingly by his side.  He’s once again addressing the nation with Peeta beside him, but this time he has another guest and things have a remarkably different tone even before the surprise at the end of the address.  Take a look and read on for my comments and the first full teaser trailer for Mockingjay – Part 1.

Trailer Wednesday: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1

Donald Sutherland and Josh Hutchinson as President Snow and Peeta Mellark

Welcome to “Trailer Tuesday” where I talk about trailers for upcoming movies.

Since I’ve been a little lax with the Trailer Tuesdays lately, and I haven’t seen as many movies in the theater due to some family health issues, I’m going to try to post a trailer every day for a full week (starting with the one yesterday).  Conveniently, the first teaser trailer for the awkwardly titled The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 was released today, and it’s a juicy one.  Take a look at it below and read on for my thoughts.

Trailer Tuesday: Big Hero 6

Welcome to “Trailer Tuesday” where I talk about trailers for upcoming movies.

Last week we looked at the latest trailer for Marvel’s next movie, Guardians of the Galaxy.  This week, we’ve got our first teaser trailer for the Marvel movie that’s coming after Guardians.  No, it’s not Avengers: Age of Ultron, it’s Big Hero 6, an animated film from Disney Animation Studios based on the Marvel comics of the same name.  Take a look below and read on for my thoughts.

Trailer Tuesday: Guardians of the Galaxy (Trailer #2)

Welcome to “Trailer Tuesday” where I talk about trailers for upcoming movies.

It’s been three months since we got our first, crazy look at Guardians of the Galaxy, and we finally got a second trailer yesterday (along with this new poster, which lacks the perfect “You’re Welcome” tagline from the previous poster).  The second trailer for a film like this is always the one that gives us the best look at the film.  By this time, more of the visual effects have been completed, more dialogue has been recorded, and the trailer takes a deeper look at the film’s story.  The first trailer’s goal was to establish the film’s unique tone and give us an intro to the characters, but this time around we got to see a lot more.  Take a look at the trailer below and read on for my thoughts and highlights:

Trailer Thursday: Cinderella

Welcome to “Trailer Tuesday” where I talk about trailers for upcoming movies.

When you see the poster above, what story immediately comes to mind?  Disney is banking on the fact that Cinderella’s glass slipper is such a recognizable image that that’s all they need to show to get people excited for the film.  In fact, that same iconic image is carried over into their first teaser trailer.  Check it out below and then read on for my comments:

Trailer Tuesday: Jersey Boys

Welcome to “Trailer Tuesday” where I talk about trailers for upcoming movies, since I’ve always found them to be fascinating.

I’m a big fan of stage musicals, I’ve seen a lot of shows on Broadway and countless others on tour, and I also happen to be a Four Seasons/Frankie Valli fan, yet somehow I’ve never managed to see Jersey Boys.  (Though, interestingly, it’s coming to my town in just a couple months.)  I was very excited when I heard that they were adapting the Tony Award-winning musical into a film.  But when I first watched the trailer I wasn’t nearly as excited as I thought I would be.  Take a look below and read on for my thoughts:

Poster: Saving Mr. Banks

I love movie posters, I even have a frame in my office at home that I use to rotate posters that catch my eye (it currently is displaying one from Skyfall).  Today, the Disney Parks Blog exclusively debuted the new poster for Saving Mr. Banks.  I looked at the trailer just last week, but check out the poster: Continue reading
