I don’t normally feature posters on here, but I’ve got to share the newly released one-sheet for Guardians of the Galaxy, that goes along with the new trailer released this week. Take a look:
It’s a pretty standard poster from a visual standpoint, though it has a more classic 70s/80s feel than most modern action/sci-fi posters, which fits in well with the style of the trailer. But what I especially love is the tagline at the bottom. Instead of some cheesy line about a crew of criminals guarding the galaxy, it simply says “YOU’RE WELCOME”. It’s got swagger and confidence and it stands out by being unique. It’s especially funny considering that no one was really asking for a Guardians of the Galaxy film, particularly as it’s an odd fit for the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far, so this is almost a proactive “you’re welcome” for all the “thank yous” they’re going to get after the film is released. That’s pretty cocky, but it’s in keeping with the style of the film and the attitude of the characters.
What do you think? Do you like the new poster? What do you think of the “You’re Welcome” tagline? Has Guardians of the Galaxy caught your interest? Let me know in the comments!
