Trailer Thursday: Guardians of the Galaxy final trailers

Rocket Racoon

Welcome to “Trailer Tuesday” where I talk about trailers for upcoming movies.

I’ve posted a lot of Guardians of the Galaxy since we got our first glimpse of it, and that’s not about to stop now.  Today we’ve got three “final” trailers for the film, the first of which is actually a “viral” commercial for a Galaxy Getaways, while the second and the third are “extended looks” at the film.  At this point, I doubt they could show us much more of the movie without delving into serious spoilers, and even some of these may be pushing the limit of how much people want to know before they see a film.  They also give us a much better glimpse at the emotions and the characters of the film, along with several more complete scenes instead of just isolated clips.  But let’s start with Galaxy Getaways

Trailer Tuesday: Guardians of the Galaxy (Trailer #2)

Welcome to “Trailer Tuesday” where I talk about trailers for upcoming movies.

It’s been three months since we got our first, crazy look at Guardians of the Galaxy, and we finally got a second trailer yesterday (along with this new poster, which lacks the perfect “You’re Welcome” tagline from the previous poster).  The second trailer for a film like this is always the one that gives us the best look at the film.  By this time, more of the visual effects have been completed, more dialogue has been recorded, and the trailer takes a deeper look at the film’s story.  The first trailer’s goal was to establish the film’s unique tone and give us an intro to the characters, but this time around we got to see a lot more.  Take a look at the trailer below and read on for my thoughts and highlights:

Trailer Wednesday: Guardians of the Galaxy

Welcome to “Trailer Tuesday” where I talk about trailers for upcoming movies, since I’ve always found them to be fascinating.

To be honest, I was really worried about Guardians of the Galaxy.  Marvel has been batting a thousand in Phase 2 so far, with Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World huge hits, as well as the success of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and with the interesting and dark-looking Captain America: The Winter Soldier still to come.  But Guardians of the Galaxy was destined to be the hardest sell for the company, given it’s out-there premise and the general lack of familiarity among the public with the comics.  But then they go and give us this new trailer for the film, and as far as I’m concerned they knocked it out of the park.  Take a look below and read on for my thoughts:

D23 Movie News Roundup

This year’s D23, a conference every two years exclusively for members of the D23 fan club, was full of news about upcoming projects, but unfortunately it wasn’t the news that people were expecting to hear.  There was no Star Wars casting announcement, no surprises from Marvel or Pixar, no Pirates of the Caribbean sequel.  What there was, however, was lots of smaller casting announcements, plus an in-depth look at some films which we previously only knew the title of.  I’m a D23 member, but I wasn’t at the conference this year, but read on for the highlights of what was announced and shown, along with some of my opinions.
