Quote of the Day
Kirk: Mister Scott, you old space dog. You’re well?
Scotty: I had me a wee bout, sir, but Doctor McCoy pulled me through.
Kirk: Oh? A wee bout of what?
McCoy: Shore leave, Admiral.
Kirk: Ah. … Well, shall we start with the Engine Room?
Scotty: We’ll see you there, sir, and everything is in order.
Kirk: That’ll be a pleasant surprise, Mister Scott.

Quote of the Day
McCoy: Happy Birthday!
Kirk: I don’t know what to say.
McCoy: Well you could say thank you.
Kirk: Thank you.
McCoy: Damn it, Jim, what the hell’s the matter with you? Other people have birthdays. Why are we treating yours like a funeral?
Kirk: Bones, I don’t want to be lectured.
McCoy: What the hell do you want? This is not about age, and you know it. This is about you flying a goddamn computer console when you wanna be out there hopping galaxies.
Kirk: Spare me your notions of poetry, please. We all have our assigned duties.
McCoy: Bull. You’re hiding… hiding behind rules and regulations.
Kirk: Who am I hiding from?
McCoy: From yourself, Admiral!
Kirk: Don’t mince words, Bones, What do you really think?
McCoy: Jim, I’m your doctor and I’m your friend. Get back your command. Get it back before you turn into part of this collection. Before you really do grow old.

Quote of the Day
(Saavik has just “completed” the Kobayashi Maru.)
Kirk: Physician, heal thyself.
McCoy: Is that’s all you gotta say? What about my performance?
Kirk: I’m not a drama critic… Well, Mister Saavik, are you going to stay with the sinking ship?
Saavik: Permission to speak candidly, sir?
Kirk: Granted.
Saavik: I don’t believe this was a fair test of my command abilities.
Kirk: And why not?
Saavik: Because… there was no way to win.
Kirk: A no-win situation is a possibility every commander may face. Has that never occurred to you?
Saavik: No sir. It has not.
Kirk: How we deal with death is at least as important as how we deal with life, wouldn’t you say?
Saavik: As I indicated, Admiral, that thought had not occurred to me.
Kirk: Well, now you have something new to think about. Carry on.
McCoy: Admiral? Wouldn’t it be easier to just put an experienced crew back on the ship?
Kirk: Galloping about the cosmos is a game for the young, Doctor.
Uhura: Now what is that supposed to mean?

Quote of the Day
Kirk: Spock! Did we just see the beginnings of a new lifeform?
Spock: Yes, Captain, we witnessed a birth. Possibly a next step in our evolution.
Kirk: I wonder.
McCoy: Well, it’s been a long time since I delivered a baby, and I hope we got this one off to a good start.
Kirk: I hope so, too. I think we gave it the ability to create its own sense of purpose. Out of our own human weaknesses, and the drive that compels us to overcome them.
McCoy: And a lot of foolish human emotions. Right, Mister Spock?
Spock: Quite true, Doctor. Unfortunately it will have to deal with them as well.

Quote of the Day
Kirk: The antenna leads are melted away.
Spock:Yes Captain, just now. By V’Ger itself.
Kirk: Why?
Spock: To prevent reception.
Kirk: Of course.
Decker: To bring the Creator here, to finish transmitting the code in person… to touch the Creator.
McCoy: To capture God! V’Ger’s going to be in for one hell of a disappointment.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Quote of the Day
Kirk: Spock… Spock? (they see that Spock is crying) Not for us?
Spock: No, Captain, not for us… for V’Ger… I weep for V’Ger, as I would for a brother. As I was when I came aboard, so is V’Ger now, empty, incomplete… searching. Logic and knowledge are not enough.
McCoy: Spock, are you saying that you’ve found, what you needed, but V’Ger hasn’t?
Decker: What would V’Ger need to fulfil itself?
Spock: Each of us, at some time in our life, turns to someone, a father, a brother, a god and asks ‘Why am I here? What was I meant to be?’ V’Ger hopes to touch its Creator to find its answers.
Kirk: ‘Is this all that I am? Is there nothing more?’
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Quote of the Day
Spock: V’Ger has knowledge that spans this universe. And, yet with all this pure logic… V’Ger is barren, cold, no mystery, no beauty. I should have known.
Kirk: Known? Known what? …Spock, what should you have known?
Spock: This simple feeling …is beyond V’Ger’s comprehension. No meaning, …no hope, …and, Jim, no answers. It’s asking questions. ‘Is this …all I am? Is there nothing more?’

Quote of the Day
Kirk: What was the problem down there?
Ellen: He insisted we go first, sir. Said something about first seeing how it scrambled our molecules.
Kirk: That has a familiar ring, doesn’t it? Starfleet, this is Captain Kirk. Beam that officer up now! (McCoy materializes on the transporter pad.) Well, for a man who swore he’d never return to Starfleet.
McCoy: Just a moment, Captain, sir. I’ll explain what happened. Your revered Admiral Nogura invoked a little known, and seldom used, reserve activation clause… in simpler language, Captain, they drafted me!
Kirk: They didn’t.
McCoy: This was your idea! This was your idea, wasn’t it?
Kirk: Bones, there’s a thing out there…
McCoy: Why is any object we don’t understand always called a ‘thing’?
Kirk: …headed this way. I need you… Dammit Bones, I need you! Badly!
McCoy: Permission to come aboard?
Rand: Permission granted, sir.
McCoy: Well, Jim, I hear Chapel’s an MD now. Well, I’m gonna need a top nurse, not a doctor who’ll argue every little diagnosis with me. And they’ve probably redesigned the whole sickbay, too. I know engineers. They love to change things.
