Quote of the Day

Hermione!

She stirred, then sat up quickly, pushing her hair out of her face.

“What’s wrong? Harry? Are you all right?”

“It’s okay, everything’s fine. More than fine. I’m great. There’s someone here.”

“What do you mean? Who — ?”

She saw Ron, who stood their holding the sword and dripping onto the threadbare carpet. Harry backed into a shadowy corner, slipped off Ron’s rucksack, and attempted to blend in with the canvas.

Hermione slid off her bunk and moved like a sleepwalker toward Ron, her eyes upon his pale face. She stopped right in front of him, her lips slightly parted, her eyes wide. Ron gave a weak, hopeful smile and half raised his arms.

Hermione launched herself forward and started punching every inc of him that she could reach.

“Ouch — ow — gerroff! What the — ? Hermione — OW!”

“You — complete — arse— Ronald — Weasley!”

She punctuated every word with a blow: Ron backed away, shielding his head as Hermione advanced.

“You — crawl — back — here — after — weeks — and — weeks — oh, where’s my wand?”

Giles:  I never wanted you to see that side of me.

Buffy:  I’m not gonna lie to you. It was scary. I’m so used to you being a grownup, and then I find out that you’re a person.

Giles:  Most grownups are.

Buffy:  Who would’ve thought?

Giles:  Some are even, uh… shortsighted, foolish people.

Buffy:  So, after all this time, we finally find out that we *do* have something in common. Which, apart from being a little weird, is kind of okay. I think we’re supposed to be training right now.

Giles:  Yes. Yes. Um, need to concentrate on your flexibility.

Buffy:  And you know what? I have just the perfect music. Go on, say it. You know you want to.

Giles:  It’s not music, it’s just, uh, meaningless sounds.

Buffy:  There. Feel better?

Giles:  Yes. Thanks. … Bay City Rollers. Now, that’s music.

Buffy:  I didn’t hear that.

‘Dinner?’ cried Stephen, as though the meal had just been invented. ‘Dinner? Oh, yes: charmed — delighted,’

Odo: Doctor, get to the point.

Julian Bashir: I need to borrow… a cup… of goo.

Odo: Excuse me?

Julian Bashir: Please? I’ll give it back.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Season 7: Episode 21 – “When It Rains…”

Quote of the Day

“After you left,” he said in a low voice, grateful for the fact that Ron’s face was hidden, “she cried for a week. Probably longer, only she didn’t want me to see. There were loads of nights when we never even spoke to each other. With you gone . . .”

He could not finish; it was only now that Ron was here again that Harry fully realized how much his absence had cost them.

“She’s like my sister,” he went on. “I love her like a sister and I reckon she feels the same way about me. It’s always been like that. I thought you knew.”

Ron did not respond, but turned his face away from Harry and wiped his nose on his sleeve. Harry got to his feet again and walked to where Ron’s rucksack lay yards away, discarded as Ron had run toward the pool to save Harry from drowning. He hoisted it onto his own back and walked to Ron, who clambered to his feet as Harry approached, eyes bloodshot but otherwise composed.

“I’m sorry,” he said in a thick voice. “I’m sorry I left. I know I was a — a —”

He looked around at the darkness, as if hoping a bad enough word would swoop down upon him and claim him.

“You’ve sort of made up for it tonight,” said Harry. “Getting the sword. Finishing off the Horcrux. Saving my life.”

“That makes me sound a lot cooler than I was,” Ron mumbled.

“Stuff like that always sounds cooler than it really was,” said Harry. “I’ve been trying to tell you that for years.”

Simultaneously they walked forward and hugged, Harry gripping the still-sopping back of Ron’s jacket.

Xander:  Uh, I think that Ethan guy disappeared again.

Buffy:  Darn. I really wanted to hit him till he bled.

Quote of the Day

Minutes passed. The male shifted his hold a little. The female moved her triangular head, pivoting it slightly from left to right. Through his glass Stephen could see her sideways jaws open and close; then there was a blur of movements so rapid that for all his care and extreme attention he could not follow them, and the male’s head was off, clamped there, a detached lemon, under the crook of her green praying arms. She bit into it, the eye’s glow went out; on her back the headless male continued to copulate rather more strongly than before, all his inhibitions having been removed. ‘Ah,’ said Stephen with intense satisfaction, and noted down the time again.

Quote of the Day

Nog: This is bad, very bad.

Kira Nerys: You say that every time we take the Defiant into battle.

Nog: Impulse manifold purged and clear. – If we lose the Chin’toka system, we lose our only foothold in the Dominion territory. I think that qualifies as bad.

Kira Nerys: Oh, we haven’t lost it yet. – Initiating impulse pre-start sequence.

Nog: Microfusion generators online. – But the Breen, they seem unstoppable. First Earth, now Chin’toka?

Worf: Ensign, no one is unstoppable. – Collimate the nadion emitters.

Nog: Collimation sequence in progress.

[Bashir and O’Brien enter the bridge]

Julian Bashir: What more can I say, Miles, but ‘I’m sorry’?

Miles O’Brien: Dilithium matrix is aligned and calibrated. – Just be a bit more careful, that’s all I ask.

Kira Nerys: Opening antimatter injector ports. – Trouble in paradise?

Julian Bashir: It was nothing. – Emergency life support and damage control systems standing by.

Miles O’Brien: I wouldn’t call it nothing.

Ezri Dax: Autonomous guidance system initialized and active.

Miles O’Brien: He lost Travis.

Kira Nerys: Hm – sounds serious. – Verify astrometric database.

Julian Bashir: Miles built this Alamo model, replete with small figures. Quite spectacular, actually. – Data sets loaded and verified. – Anyway, he was showing it to me in Quark’s when we – rather I – accidentally misplaced Colonel Travis.

Nog: Phaser safeties engaged. – Can’t you make another one?

Miles O’Brien: What, so he can lose it again? – Field stabilizers online.

Kira Nerys: Well, that’s what happens when you share your toys. – Synchronizing warp plasma flow…

Miles O’Brien: It’s not a toy! It’s a model, built to scale.

Julian Bashir: He really did a fantastic job.

Miles O’Brien: Nacelles holding at pre-warp threshold.

Julian Bashir: Miles, look…

Quote of the Day

“No!” said Ron. “No, don’t open it! I’m serious!”

“Why not?” asked Harry. “Let’s get rid of the damn thing, it’s been months —”

“I can’t, Harry, I’m serious — you do it —”
“But why?”

“Because that thing’s bad for me!” said Ron, backing away from the locket on the rock. “I can’t handle it! I’m not making excuses, Harry, for what I was like, but it affects me worse than it affected you and Hermione, it made me think stuff — stuff I was thinking anyway, but it made everything worse, I can’t explain it, and then I’d take it off and I’d get my head on straight again, and then I’d have to put the effing thing back on — I can’t do it, Harry!”

He had backed away, the sword dragging at his side, shaking his head.

“You can do it,” said Harry, “you can! Youv’e just got the sword, I know it’s supposed to be you who uses it. Please, just get rid of it, Ron.”

The sound of his name seemed to act like a stimulant. Ron swallowed, then, still breathing hard through his long nose, moved back toward the rock.

“Tell me when,” he croaked.

Buffy:  Xander, how do you feel about digging through some of Giles’ personal files and seeing what you can find?

Xander:  I feel pretty good about it. Does that make me a sociopath? Nah.
