Quote of the Day

Trolls: Everyone’s a bit of a fixer upper
That’s what it’s all about!
Father! Sister! Brother!
We need each other
To raise us up and round us out!
Everyone’s a bit of a fixer upper
But when push comes to shove…
The only fixer upper fixer that can fix a fixer upper is…
True!
True!
True, true, true!
Love!

Frozen – “Fixer Upper”

Quote of the Day

Kristoff: Reindeers are better than people
Sven, don’t you think that’s true?
Kristoff (as Sven): “Yeah, people will beat you
And curse you and cheat you
Every one of ’em’s bad except you.”
Kristoff:Aww, thanks buddy
But people smell better than reindeers
Sven, don’t you think I’m right?
Kristoff (as Sven): “That’s once again true
For all except you.”
Kristoff: You got me. Let’s call it a night.
Kristoff (as Sven): “Good night.”
Kristoff: Don’t let the frostbite bite.

Frozen – “Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People”

Quote of the Day

Elsa: It’s time to see
What I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong
No rules for me
I’m free!

Frozen – “Let It Go”

Quote of the Day

Hans: I mean it’s crazy…
Anna: What?
Hans: We finish each other’s —
Anna: Sandwiches!
Hans: That’s what I was gonna say!

Frozen – “Love Is an Open Door”

Review: Frozen

True love, princesses, magic, funny animal sidekicks and fantastic music.  These are the ingredients we expect from a film like Frozen, and it delivers on all of them.  But Frozen is different than anything we’ve seen in the genre from Disney before.  Inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson story, The Snow Queen, it’s fun, funny, emotional and romantic, but it’s also deeper, more interesting and more complex than what we’re used to seeing.  From its top notch cast, to its gorgeous visuals, its outstanding music and its empowering message, Frozen is a must-see for everyone.

Trailer Tuesday: Frozen

Welcome to “Trailer Tuesday” where I talk about trailers for upcoming movies.

We’ve been given a third trailer for Frozen, at the end of which all fans of musicals shout, “Hallelujah.”  Or, maybe we sing “Hallelujah,” since we’re talking about music.  Feel free to choose your favorite musical instance of the word, whether it’s Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” or Handel’s “Hallelujah” Chorus.  But regardless of your chosen form of angelic singing, celebration is in order because Disney is finally marketing Frozen as a musical.  Before I get too far ahead of myself, take a look below at the new trailer, which features many scenes we’ve seen before but is also full of new goodies:

Trailer Tuesday: Frozen

Welcome to “Trailer Tuesday” where I talk about trailers for upcoming movies.

We have a new trailer for Frozen, which gives us a much bigger look at the film than we got from the teaser trailer from a few months ago.  The question, however, is whether this bigger look is an accurate representation of the final film.  Take a look below and read on for my comments:

D23 Movie News Roundup

This year’s D23, a conference every two years exclusively for members of the D23 fan club, was full of news about upcoming projects, but unfortunately it wasn’t the news that people were expecting to hear.  There was no Star Wars casting announcement, no surprises from Marvel or Pixar, no Pirates of the Caribbean sequel.  What there was, however, was lots of smaller casting announcements, plus an in-depth look at some films which we previously only knew the title of.  I’m a D23 member, but I wasn’t at the conference this year, but read on for the highlights of what was announced and shown, along with some of my opinions. Trailer Tuesday: Frozen

Welcome to “Trailer Tuesday” where I talk about trailers for upcoming movies, since I’ve always found them to be endlessly fascinating.

Those of you who saw Monsters University were probably treated to this small teaser for the upcoming Disney Animation film, Frozen.  Frozen is a retelling of “The Snow Queen,” a fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson.  It features the voice talents of Kristen Bell (sloths!), Idina Menzel, Alan Tudyk and Jonathan Groff.  It’s also a musical, with songs written by Robert Lopez (songwriter for Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon and the Scrubs musical episode) and his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez.

The trailer is just a simple tease, though it does a lot to evoke the most popular characters from Tangled, Maximus the horse and Pascal the chameleon.  It may not tell us much, but it sure is cute!  Take a look: Continue reading
