Quote of the Day

Giles:  Why should someone want to harm Cordelia?

Willow:  Maybe because they met her? Did I say that?

Quote of the Day

If you are ever forced to take a chemistry class, you will probably see, at the front of the classroom, a large chart divided into squares, with different numbers and letters in each of them. This chart is called the table of elements, and scientists like to say that it contains all the substances that make up our world. Like everyone else, scientists are wrong from time to time, and it is easy to see that they are wrong about the table of elements. Because although this table contains a great many elements, from the element oxygen, which is found in the air, to the element aluminum, which is found in cans of soda, the table of the elements does not contain one of the most powerful elements that make up our world, and that is the element of surprise.

Quote of the Day

Garak: You’ve come a long way from the naive young man I met five years ago. You’ve become distrustful and suspicious. It suits you.

Julian Bashir: I had a good teacher.

Quote of the Day

Harry got to his feet. As he walked across the room, his eyes fell upon the little table on which Marvolo Gaunt’s ring had rested last time, but the ring was no longer there.
“Yes, Harry?” said Dumbledore, for Harry had come to a halt.
“The ring’s gone,” said Harry, looking around. “But I thought you might have the mouth organ or something.”
Dumbledore beamed at him, peering over the top of his half-moon spectacles.
“Very astute, Harry, but the mouth organ was only ever a mouth organ.”
And on that enigmatic note he waved to Harry, who understood himself to be dismissed.

Quote of the Day

Buffy:  You guys don’t have to get involved.

Xander:  What d’ya mean? We’re a team! Aren’t we a team?

Willow:  Yeah! You’re the Slayer, and we’re, like, the Slayerettes!

Buffy:  I just don’t like putting you guys in danger.

Xander:  Oh, huh, I laugh in the face of danger. Then I hide until it goes away.

Quote of the Day

There are many, many things that are difficult in this life, but one thing that isn’t difficult at all is figuring out whether someone is excited or not when they open a present. If someone is excited, they will often put exclamation points at the end of their sentences to indicate their excited torn of voice. If they say “Oh!” for instance, the exclamation point would indicate that the person is saying “Oh!” in an excited way, rather than simply saying “Oh,” with a comma after it, which would indicate that the present is somewhat disappointing.

Quote of the Day

Worf: What about Garak?

Benjamin Sisko: I want him back, too. I suppose I don’t have to tell you to keep a close eye on him?

Worf: At the first sign of betrayal, I will kill him. But, I promise to return the body intact.

Benjamin Sisko: I assume that’s a joke.

Worf: We will see.

Quote of the Day

Harry decided to start with a basic test, asking all applicants for the team to divide into groups of ten and fly once around the pitch. This was a good decision: The first ten was made up of first years and it could not have been plainer that they had hardly ever flown before. Only one boy managed to remain airborne for more than a few seconds, and he was so surprised he promptly crashed into one of goal posts.
The second group was comprised of ten of the silliest girls Harry had ever encountered, who, when he blew the whistle, merely fell about giggling and clutching one another. Romilda Vane was amongst them. When he told then to leave the pitch, they did so quite cheerfully and went to sit in the stands to heckle everyone else.
The third group had a pileup halfway around the pitch. Most of the fourth group had come without broomsticks. The fifth group were Hufflepuffs.
“If there’s anyone else here who’s not from Gryffindor,” roared Harry, who was starting to get seriously annoyed, “leave now, please!”
There was a pause, then a couple of little Ravenclaws went sprinting off the pitch, snorting with laughter.

Quote of the Day

Giles:  This is madness! What can you have been thinking? You are the Slayer! Lives depend upon you! I make allowances for your youth, but I expect a certain amount of responsibility, and instead of which you enslave yourself to this, this… Cult?

Buffy:  You don’t like the color?

Quote of the Day

If you were to take a plastic bag and place it inside a large bowl, and then, using a wooden spoon, stir the bag around and around the bowl, you could use the expression “a mixed bag” to describe what you had in front of you, but you would not be using the expression in the same way I am about to use it now. Although “a mixed bag” sometimes refers to a plastic bag that has been stirred in a bowl, more often it is used to describe a situation that has both good parts and bad parts. An afternoon at a movie theater, for instance, would be a mixed bag if your favorite movie were showing, but if you had to eat gravel instead of popcorn. A trip to the zoo would be a very mixed bag if the weather were beautiful, but all of the man- and woman-eating lions were running around loose.
